Grace is a member of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS) headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The word “synod” means “walking together”. This definition is a picture of what it means to be a member of a synod. Grace is walking together with the Wisconsin Synod in mission, teaching, and practice. We work together in our ministries and support each other with our resources. The teachings and values of Grace in Charlotte are the same as a WELS church in any other location. We have unity!
The Best of Both Worlds
Grace is a small church. It’s a church where members aren’t numbers, they are family. It’s a close-knit community that genuinely cares for one another. The pastor is an important part of your life. When you are sick, he visits you. When you need guidance, he’s there to provide it. When you need a shoulder to cry on, he’s there to comfort you with the Savior’s promises. Members of large congregations can’t receive personal care from the man who preaches to them on Sunday morning.
But Grace is a big church too. It’s a member of a synod with nearly 450,000 members worldwide. it offers opportunities to volunteer any way you can imagine and just about anywhere on the planet. Through the WELS, Grace has everything a large church has to offer – teen rallies, kid camps, marriage retreats, parent workshops, mission trips, professional counseling, resources for special needs, affordable Christian education, a publisher, humanitarian support around the globe…and much, much more. Grace has the best of both worlds!
