National Night Out: August 7th
Come to Grace to appreciate our local police officers and firefighters! A police car and fire truck will be on sight for the kids to explore. Officers will be here to meet you. Enjoy a free ice cream cone and get to know the people who serve and protect you. Free coloring books will be given to the children too. Speak with Maureen Highdale if you are willing to help with the event.
Mornings with Mommy: August 9th
Mornings with Mommy is a group planned by moms for moms. It’s an educational playdate for children, and a time for moms to mingle and enjoy some adult conversation. There will be development-appropriate activities for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers at a variety of stations. A snack is offered too. Grace provides everything. Each session only costs $5.00 per family. Join us 10:00-11:00 AM on July 12th. Sign up now!
STEAM Night: August 10th
Grace is having “STEAM Nights” during the summer months that help engage young children up to 8-years-old into the important areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics. Each STEAM Night has a different theme and focus. Join us on Friday, August 10th at 6:00 PM as we explore WEATHER from a Biblical perspective. Contact Sarah Krajewski with any questions.
Disc Golf: August 11th
Join us for a round of disc golf at South Piedmont College. We will play the Dry Creek Course at 4209 Old Charlotte Hwy. All skill levels are welcome. We have extra discs to share. Meet at 9:00 AM at the back of the parking lot at South Piedmont College. Contact John Bergmeier with any questions.
Trail Hike at South Mountain: August 18th
Enjoy the beauty of the Carolinas with us! On Saturday, August 18th we’ll hike South Mountain State Park at 3001 South Mountain Park Avenue, Connelly Springs, NC 28612. We will complete the 2.7-mile roundtrip High Shoals Loop Trail for spectacular waterfall views. It is a somewhat strenuous trail, but it is the most popular one in the park. We will meet at 9:30 AM in the Jacob’s Fork Parking area, which the closest parking to the trailhead. Bring a picnic lunch to enjoy after the hike. After lunch, anyone up for it can conquer another trail. There are many to choose from! Take a look at the park map. You can sign up now if you want to receive information about future hikes. Church Council Meeting: August 20th
Our church council will meet on Monday, August 20th at 7:00 PM for its monthly ministry and business meeting.
Building Strong Parent-Child Relationships: September 27th
Grace is partnering with Christian Family Solutions during the upcoming ministry year to provide seminars by licensed professional counselors to help strengthen our families. Many of the problems we see in our homes, our schools and communities can be addressed by strengthening God’s basic building block for society – the family. Our first seminar entitled Building Strong Parent-Child Relationships will be September 27th at 6:15 PM and led by Sarah Reik, MS, LPC, DCC. Sign up now to attend. Child care is available for $5 per family if you are registered.

Child Care News
We are thankful for the service of Clair Ellingboe, a 3rd-year student from Martin Luther College, who is completing a summer internship at Grace. Her last day is August 13th. Spirit Week will take place at the child care August 13th-16th. Monday is Color Day, Tuesday is Crazy Day, Wednesday is Sports Day and Thursday is Pajama Day. Thursday is also Popsicles on the Playground beginning at 4:00 PM. The child care is closed on August 17th for Teacher Prep Day.
