Disc Golf: June 2 

Join us for Disc Golf fun at 9:00 AM at the Eager Beaver Course at Elon Park, 11401 Ardrey Kell Road, Charlotte 28277. Anyone is welcome to come and try the sport. We have extra discs to share. Want to join the group? Sign up now!

District Convention: June 4-6

Pastor Douglas, Brent Bitter, and Marty Ranft will attend the biennial WELS North Atlantic District Convention at King of Kings Lutheran Church in Clifton Park, NY. They will hear reports about our synod’s work, contribute to committee work and find encouragement from worship, devotions, and presentations.

Preschool Graduation: June 8

Join us as we congratulate ten preschool students for graduating from our program and wish them well as they move onto kindergarten. May the education and training be a blessing to them as they continue to grow in God’s grace.

Donuts with Dads: June 9

Dads and their kids are invited to join us at Grace at 10:00 AM for donuts, coffee, and juice. Come celebrate our dads!

Confirmation Sunday: June 10

Kingsley Turriff, Zach Zawlocki, and Katie Fleig are completing the Foundations in Faith Class and will be welcomed into communicant membership at Grace by Rite of Confirmation. Look forward to celebrating this milestone with their families on Sunday, June 10th. Cake and ice cream will be served after the service.

Teacher Conference: June 11-12

Sarah Krajewski will attend the annual North Atlantic District Teacher’s Conference at Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Raleigh, NC. She will learn early learning strategies that may be incorporated at Grace, connect with other WELS child care directors, and find inspiration in worship and devotions.

Mornings with Mommy: June 14

Mornings with Mommy is a group planned by moms for moms. It’s an educational playdate for children, and a time for moms to mingle and enjoy some adult conversation. Every month has a seasonal theme and offers development-appropriate activities for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers at a variety of stations. A snack is offered too. Grace provides everything. Each session only costs $5.00 per family. Join us 10:00-11:00 AM on June 14th. Sign up now!

WELS Church Picnic: June 16

Grace Lutheran Church, Illumine Church, and Huntersville Lutheran Church are gathering for a WELS Church Picnic on Saturday, June 16th, 11:00AM-3:00 PM at McDowell Nature Preserve located at 15222 York Rd, Charlotte, NC 28278. McDowell Park is located on Lake Wylie and has MUCH to offer!  Hamburgers and hot dogs will be provided along with plates, utensils, and drinks. Please bring a side dish to share!  A free-will donation will be collected to offset the cost of the food and pavilion rental. Bring along any outdoor games you would like to play too. Questions? Installation of Katie Henzi: June 17

Grace was blessed to receive a 2018 Education Graduate from Martin Luther College to serve on our childcare team. Katie Henzi, from Brillion, Wisconsin, will be installed as a teacher during worship on Sunday, June 17th. Come to welcome Katie to Grace and to the Carolinas! There will be a pot-luck meal after the service.

STEAM Night: June 22

Grace is having “STEAM Nights” during the summer months that help engage young children up to 8-years-old into the important areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics. Each STEAM Night has a different theme and focus. Join us for the first one on Friday, June 22nd at 6:00 PM as we explore dinosaurs from a Biblical perspective!  Questions? Quarterly Meeting: June 24

Mark your calendars!  Our leaders will update the congregation on its activity and ministry plans on Sunday, June 24th at 11:15 AM. The 2018-19 fiscal budget will be reviewed for approval.

Knight’s Game: June 29

Trail Hike at Linville Falls: June 30

Enjoy the beauty of the Carolinas with us! On Saturday, June 30th we’ll hike Linville Falls, which is the most popular waterfall in the Blue Ridge Mountains because of its accessibility to the Blue Ridge Parkway. It is a spectacular three-tiered waterfall plunging into Linville Gorge, the “Grand Canyon of the Southern Appalachians.” The Falls Trail distance is 1.6 miles round trip and easy. The Gorge Trail distance is 1.4 miles round trip and strenuous. The Plunge Basin Trail is 1-mile round trip and moderate. It’s about a 2 hour and 15-minute drive from Grace. We will meet at the Visitor’s Center at Mile Marker 316 at 9:30 AM. Carpooling is encouraged. Bring a lunch.
