Worship

Joint Christian worship is the wonderful opportunity for God's people to gather together with one another so that we might regularly hear about God's love for us in Jesus and so that we might praise him with our responses and songs. The service begins at 10:30 am and usually doesn't run any longer than an hour. On the first and third Sundays of each month, we celebrate the Lord's Supper for our members.

We're a liturgical church. That means we use several orders of service to guide us in our public worship. As you'd hopefully expect, Jesus is in the spotlight every single Sunday. We're led to see our great need for God's salvation. Then, through a series of readings from God's Word, we're shown how Jesus has delivered us from the condemnation that our sins deserve.

In our worship, we sing hymns that come from a wide range of Christian history. We attempt to hold onto the solid music of past generations, while integrating excellent pieces from our own generation.

In regard to the music, something that distinguishes us from many other churches is the emphasis on "him" rather than "me." Our real confidence is that salvation is accomplished and guaranteed by Jesus' death and resurrection, no matter how we "feel" at any given moment. That guides us in our selection of music and it's why you won't usually see a choir or band up-front and center. Music assists us in focusing on the cross which takes its position at "center stage" in the church.
